Description
A singular masterpiece by Amulet Berton (1875 - 1967), this Italian carved wood center table radiates the Venetian style. Crafted circa 1920-1930, it marries faux bois vine branches and polychrome motifs. The onyx top, encased in a molded border, displays a captivating radial pattern. The frame, intricately carved and parcel-gilt, boasts a fruiting vine motif with leaves, grapes, creatures like snails, lizards, and a dragonfly.
The table's unique charm is enhanced by the shaped cross stretcher crowned with a doves motif. Berton's creation harmoniously blends Venetian exuberance, rococo elegance, and intricate naturalistic artistry, delivering an enchanting fusion of creativity and craftsmanship.
