Description
An exceptionally fine French serpentine tantalus box (or cave a liqueur) with brass marquetry inlay and mother-of-pearl, circa 1870.
Crafted from thuya wood, its serpentine shape is enhanced by kingwood cross bandings and intricate brass, mother-of-pearl, and kingwood inlays. Uniquely, the sides are also serpentine, showcasing its luxurious design. The lid unfolds to reveal a rosewood glass stand, holding eight etched glasses and four decanters with cut glass stoppers. Retaining its original patina, this piece exudes exceptional quality, reminiscent of esteemed makers like Vervelle Audot. A rarity in perfect condition, a collector's treasure.
